Bure sauna (barrel)The barrel outdoor sauna — Scandinavian tradition, modern craft
The barrel shape Scandinavians have used for centuries, now built by hand in Bosnia. The rounded profile sheds rain and snow on its own, and solid thermally treated spruce or alder holds heat remarkably well.

What is the Barrel Sauna?
The Barrel Sauna is a Scandinavian outdoor sauna — the rounded cylindrical form used across the Nordic countries for centuries. Thermally treated timber, a Harvia heater and precise hand construction arrive as a finished piece for your garden, cabin or property.
The rounded profile sheds rain and snow with no separate drainage, and hot air circulates more efficiently inside a cylinder — which means faster heat-up and more even heat distribution.

Not every barrel sauna is the same
There are plenty of barrel saunas on the market. Most arrive as a flat-pack kit — untreated timber, assembly at your own risk, no warranty. Here is the concrete difference.
AURATHERM Barrel Sauna
Typical flat-pack kits
Comparable barrel saunas in thermally treated timber sell abroad from 6,000 EUR upwards. Flat-pack kits locally start around 5,000 KM — in lower-grade untreated timber, with no delivery, no installation and no Harvia heater. The AURATHERM Barrel Sauna arrives complete, with everything it needs, delivered and installed at your address.

A sauna that earns its keep
Owners of cabins and apartments who rent them out see a direct lift in income after installing a sauna. Here is exactly why.
Raises property value
A cabin with a sauna commands a noticeably higher price on sale or rent. Buyers and guests recognise the premium immediately.
Higher rental income
Accommodation with a sauna can charge 30–50% more per night. Guests actively search for this feature.
Fast payback
With regular bookings the investment pays back quickly. Every guest who chooses your property because of the sauna contributes directly.
A feature few have
On Booking and Airbnb, properties with a sauna collect more reviews and rank better in search. It is a filter your listing passes and the competition does not.
Minimal upkeep
Thermally treated timber needs no coating and no special care. We still suggest a wood stain for appearance.
A year-round draw
Unlike a pool that only works in summer, a sauna is used all year — including summer. It extends your season at no extra cost.
More than relaxation
For anyone who wants wellness at home that genuinely supports their health — private buyers and cabin owners alike. The science confirms what Nordic societies knew for centuries.
Cardiovascular activity
Time in a sauna raises your heart rate about as much as light exercise. Blood vessels widen and circulation improves.
Immune support
High temperature stimulates white blood cell production. Regular sauna users report a stronger immune response through the year.
Deep sweating
Sweating is one of the most effective natural routes for clearing the body. A sauna produces deep sweating that everyday activity cannot.
Looser muscles and joints
Heat relaxes tense muscles deeply and reduces joint inflammation. Particularly useful after physical work or for chronic pain.
Less stress
A sauna lowers cortisol and encourages endorphin release. Regular users report better sleep and less anxiety.
Deeper sleep
The drop in body temperature after a sauna signals the body that it is time to rest. Studies show sauna users fall asleep faster and get better REM sleep.
Frequently Asked Questions
What you need to know about the Barrel Sauna, ordering and delivery.
Still have questions? Get in touch →With the Harvia electric heater it reaches an operating temperature of 80–90°C in 30 to 45 minutes, depending on size and outside temperature. A wood-burning heater takes a little longer, around an hour.
Yes. The rounded profile has no flat surfaces for rain or snow to sit on, so water runs off by itself. That is why the shape survived in the Nordic countries for centuries.
We offer three standard sizes — for 2, 4 and 6 people. Dimensions can be adapted to order if your space calls for something specific.
It needs a level, load-bearing base — a concrete slab, paving or well-compacted gravel. No conventional foundation is required. We give you the exact base dimensions before delivery.
The standard lead time is four to six weeks from order confirmation. Custom dimensions can take a little longer, which we agree upfront.
Thermally treated timber needs no coating to stay durable. We recommend a wood stain purely for appearance — untreated, the wood silvers over time, which some owners prefer.
Yes, with the right equipment. The sauna is not fixed to the base, but its weight means moving it needs a crane or forklift and a prepared new base.
