Wood-Fired Hot TubA wooden thermal tub — the warmth of water, with no electricity
A hand-built tub in thermally treated timber, heated by a wood burner. No mains connection, no pumps, no filters — the water comes up to temperature in an hour and a half to two hours and holds between 35 and 40°C.

What is a wood-fired hot tub?
A wood-fired tub is a different experience from a sauna: instead of sitting in hot air, you soak in warm water in the open. The burner sits beside the tub or inside it, you fire it with wood, and the water circulates by natural convection — no pump involved.
That is why the tub needs no electricity and no plumbing. Site it wherever you have access to water; after use you either drain it or close the wooden cover that comes with it.

In a tub the timber is in constant contact with water, so thermal treatment matters most here — it raises moisture resistance and prevents swelling and splitting. You choose the timber when ordering.
The hot tub in practice
The long staves have to seat against each other with no gap, because what seals them is water pressure and the steel bands, not filler. This is work measured in millimetres.

Not every wooden tub is the same
A tub is in constant contact with water, so mistakes in material and build show up faster than in a sauna. Here is the concrete difference.

A tub that earns its keep
Owners of cabins and apartments who rent them out see a direct lift in income after installing a tub. Here is exactly why.
Raises property value
A cabin or apartment with a wood-fired tub commands a higher price on rent and on sale. Guests looking for wellness accommodation spot it immediately.
Higher rental income
Accommodation with a wood-fired tub can charge 30–50% more per night. Guests actively search for it on Booking and Airbnb.
Fast payback
With regular bookings the investment pays back quickly. Every guest who chooses your place because of the tub returns part of what you put in.
Genuinely rare
A wood-fired tub is an uncommon feature, particularly in mountain and rural properties. Guests share it on social media and leave better ratings.
No installations
The tub needs no electricity, pumps or filters. Site it where there is water access, which greatly simplifies preparing the location.
A year-round feature
Unlike a pool, a wood-fired tub is used in winter too — that is when demand peaks. It extends your season at no extra cost.
More than relaxation
Warm water works differently from hot air — it is gentler on the heart and more accessible to anyone who finds a sauna too much. Here is what happens in the body.
Takes load off joints
In water the body loses most of its weight, so joints and spine work unloaded. That makes a tub the gentler option for older users and for injury recovery.
Better circulation
Warm water widens blood vessels and speeds up flow, much like a sauna but at a lower temperature — which the body tolerates for longer.
Muscle relaxation
Heat and buoyancy together release tense muscles deeply. Particularly useful after physical work or a day in the hills.
Less stress
Soaking in warm water outdoors lowers cortisol. The effect is stronger than indoors, because you also get the stillness and the open air.
Gentler on the heart
Water at 35–40°C puts far less strain on the cardiovascular system than a sauna at 90°C, so a tub works where a sauna is too much.
Deeper sleep
The drop in body temperature after you get out signals the body that it is time to rest — the same mechanism as a sauna.
Frequently Asked Questions
What you need to know about the wood-fired tub, ordering and upkeep.
Still have questions? Get in touch →An hour and a half to two hours, depending on tub size and starting water temperature. It takes longer in winter than in summer. The water heats by natural convection, with no pump.
No. The burner runs on wood and circulation is natural. Power is only needed if you later want lighting around the tub.
The smaller tub (Ø 140 cm) holds around 1,200 litres, the larger (Ø 160 cm) around 1,600 litres. Filling with an ordinary garden hose takes 30 to 45 minutes.
With no pump or filter, the water is changed after a few uses. The cover included in the price keeps it clean and warm for longer. With chemical treatment the water can stand for weeks, though most owners prefer to change it.
Yes, and that is when it is best. Thermally treated timber handles sub-zero temperatures. If the tub stands full through winter, protect it from freezing or drain it.
Two standard sizes — Ø 140 cm for two or three people, and Ø 160 cm for five or six. Both are 90 cm tall.
